Young carers go wild!

Twenty-one young carers, part of Action for Carers’ youth service, had a fantastic trip to the Surrey Hills this spring, as part of a Youth Development Residential Weekend.

The Youth Development Weekend was organised by Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development (SOLD), and partially funded by the Youth Hostel Association’s Generation Green, a programme offering residential trips for young people.

Taking place over the last weekend of March, and enjoying beautiful weather, the 21 young carers hiked hills, climbed obstacle courses, made fires, shot arrows and more! Not a huge amount of sleep was managed, due to all the excitement, but it was a weekend to remember, with friendships formed, skills learned and all the young people enjoying a well-needed and much deserved break.

Thank you to all those involved and who supported the weekend to make it such a valuable experience for our young carers.
